Letter from Josphat

Josphat, who is 8, writes about his latest dental check up.

My last dental checkup waas in August.  The dental checkup was done at the project.  I went for my dental checkup on foot.  I went for my dental checkup with mother.  I felt afraid about going to my dental checkup.  One thing that was done at my dental checkup was to open my mouth wide.  At my dental checkup, the doctor/nurse said [I think he means not to eat sugary foods like sweets]  At my dental checkup I learned to brush my teeth after meals.

Josphat is saved and sends his greeting to you.  He thanks God for such a friend like you.  He received your letter and was happy to know that Madonari is used to area artists.  Josphat says that he rarely uses chalk to draw, but draws using pencils.  He was happy to hear that you celebrated your 50th [actually 49th] anniversary of marriage and wishes you good healthy and happyness.  He also liked the picture of your wedding, as he has hanged it somewhere to always see you.

God bless you and your family.

Bye Bye

New Photo of Josphat

There is a new photo of Josphat.  Another one of the "solemn ones" but I am always happy to get new photos and see how the kids grow from year to year.

Josphat is an orphan, so doesn't have much to smile about.

Letter from Josphat

My latest "fill in the blanks" letter from Josphat tells me about his "Project Learning."  It is dated 7/22/13

My favorite thing I have learned in my project is to respect God.  About friendship, I have learned to sacrifice for my friends. About taking care of my body I have learned to wear clean clothes. About being polite and kind, I have learned to appreciate each other.  About my home area, I have learned the common food people eat is Ugalo (corn meal).  I have learned that some of the jobs people do are digging.  To learn about cleanliness we should wash our clothes daily.

In his "Message to my sponsor" Josphat writes:

Much regards from your sponsored child Josphat.  He says he is doing fine together with his family.  Josphat says the weather in his home place is rainy and that they have started harvesting crops like peas and beans.  He says you are always in his prayers always.  He ends by saying thank you and that God bless you abundantly.

Letter from Josphat

Dated Octber 27, 2012

This the kind of "check-off" kind of letter that young children send to their sponsors.

My name is Josphat.

In my house I sleep on a mat.

I get food from a shop.

My house is made of wood.  It has an earthen floor and a tin roof.  I do not have electricity in my house.  I wash my clothes in a bucket.

The report from his representative states:

Josphat is greeting you and your family in Jesus name.  He is so much glad for the letters and pictures you send to him.  He says that the thing he likes best in school is academic, since he found himself reading most of the time.  He says he loves you so much and requests for prayers.

Meet Josephat

Michelle of Blogging from the Boonies is a shamelessly bad person!  I simply MUST stop reading her blog! Wainaina from Kenya is a result of one of her posts, Theresa from Ghana is a result of one of her posts, Kwagala from Uganda, with whom I share sponsorship (a whole bunch of us help sponsor her) is a result of one of her posts.  The other day she posted photos of orphans who are waiting for sponsors.  I was just going to look.  You know how that goes.  It's like going to the store for milk and coming home with nothing but milk.

I truly was NOT going to sponsor another child, but look at this face.

This is Josephat, who is 7 years old, an orphan being raised in a home with his sister and three others. I looked at the pain on that little face, with puffy dark circles under his eyes, and my heart melted.  So I am now sponsoring Josephat.  I don't have his information yet, other than his age, that he's from Kenya, and his picture, but I will be writing more about him in the coming months.

This is really the last.  I absolutely, positively cannot afford another child!
